About The Russell Ferber Foundation

Our Story

On July 6, 2002, Russell Ferber tragically died in a car accident at the age of 21, just as he was about to graduate with a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts from The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, NY.

In 2003, Russell's family established The Russell Ferber Foundation to honor his memory by funding programs that assist young people who lack the financial resources to pursue their dreams, much like Russell did.

Our Partners

Careers through Culinary Arts Program

The Foundation has established The Russell Ferber Memorial Scholarship through C-CAP, a non-profit organization that provides professional culinary education programs in inner-city high schools across six venues in the country. We are proud to offer full scholarships in the Baking and Pastry Arts Program at the CIA.

The Culinary Institute of America

We are thrilled that the Russell Ferber Scholarship at the CIA is endowed. The Foundation continues to donate funds for an annual stipend to students who complete their externship obligations with the highest professionalism—a quality Russell deeply valued and demonstrated in his culinary pursuits.

Village Community School

Village Community School, Russell’s beloved K-8 school, struggled to support students with distinct learning disabilities like Russell. The VCS Russell Ferber Memorial Fund has become a vital resource, providing educational and psychological evaluations, language therapy, tutoring, additional part-time teaching support, and assistance with language and writing skills needed for high school transition.

By supporting The Russell Ferber Foundation, you contribute to a legacy that empowers young people to achieve their dreams and honors the memory of a beloved individual.
